Accepted name and source opinion
Kew POWO accepts Echinopsis calochlora with the author citation K.Schum.; its native range is East Bolivia to Brazil.1 Kew records the native range from eastern Bolivia to Brazil; nursery origin is not evidence about wild populations.
Placement and production lineage
The production lineage is species → Echinopsis → Trichocereeae; the Cactaceae family context remains higher in the ancestry chain. This source owns only the existing species node and its direct genus relationship; it creates no family, order, subfamily or tribe nodes. A flattened-globose to short-columnar body, rib and areole pattern, spination, flowers and reliable provenance should be evaluated together.
Identification cannot be reduced to one product photograph, flower colour or body proportions altered by cultivation. Ribs, areoles, spines, flowers, growth form and reliable provenance should be evaluated together.
Synonymy and canonical boundary
Kew represents 3 nomenclatural source records in 3 unique name+author synonym rows. The current Kew backbone maintains three synonyms: Lobivia calochlora, Echinopsis calochlora subsp. glaetzleana and E. calochlora var. claviformis. Homotypic and heterotypic names support search and literature retrieval but are not separately accepted species routes.
The GBIF backbone exposes a broader legacy name set; it is not automatically unioned into the current Kew canonical opinion. The live Echinopsis grandiflora row is absent from the canonical three and is removed by the taxonomy payload.
Range and conservation
The native range is recorded as East Bolivia to Brazil.1 Nursery origin and commercial inventory are not evidence about wild populations.
The sourced conservation target is NE; the former live value was NE.1 The maintained official evidence does not assert a species-level IUCN assessment, so NE is retained without inference.
