Accepted name and source opinion
Kew POWO accepts Echinopsis arachnacantha with the author citation (Buining & F.Ritter) Friedrich; its native range is Bolivia.1 Kew records the native range as Bolivia; this does not describe nursery origin or the abundance of commercial inventory.
Placement and production lineage
The production lineage is species → Echinopsis → Trichocereeae; the Cactaceae family context remains higher in the ancestry chain. This source owns only the existing species node and its direct genus relationship; it creates no family, order, subfamily or tribe nodes. A small flattened-globose body capable of clustering, fine spider-like spination, rib pattern, areoles and flower structure should be evaluated together.
