Kroenleinia grusonii, commonly known as the Golden Barrel Cactus, is a majestic succulent species belonging to the Cactaceae family. Formerly classified as Echinocactus grusonii , this species has been reclassified into the genus Kroenleinia following recent taxonomic revisions . Native to the arid and semi arid regions of Mexico, this cactus derives its name from its golden yellow spines and its distinctive barrel like spherical form. While young, the plant is typically globular, but it can become more cylindrical with age, reaching up to 1 meter in diameter and height in the wild.
