Accepted name and nomenclatural record
Kew POWO accepts Acharagma aguirreanum with the author citation (Glass & R.A.Foster) Glass; IPNI confirms the first-publication record as “Guía Identif. Cact. Amenazadas México 1: Ac/aq (1998 publ. 1997)”.12 The native distribution is Coahuila, Mexico. The native distribution is restricted to dry shrubland and desert habitats in Coahuila; nursery production in Adana and one retail plant are not evidence about wild populations.
Classification and production boundary
The live lineage is species → Acharagma → Cactaceae → Caryophyllales → Plantae. This package owns only the existing species node and its direct Acharagma genus relationship; it creates or updates no genus, family, order or kingdom node. A small globose to short-columnar body, tubercle rather than rib pattern, areoles and spines, flowers, fruit, seeds and documented provenance should be evaluated together.
Identification cannot be reduced to one product photograph, body colour or flower colour. Tubercles, areoles, central and radial spines, flowers, fruit, seeds, native range and documented provenance should be evaluated together. Elongation, stress colour or grafted appearance in cultivation does not automatically change the scientific name.

The current Kew surface maintains 3 nomenclatural synonym records. Kew maintains three homotypic historical combinations: Escobaria aguirreana, Gymnocactus aguirreanus and Thelocactus aguirreanus. They are not separate accepted-species routes. Homotypic names share a nomenclatural type; heterotypic names represent historical opinions based on other types. None creates a separate accepted product, botanical or taxonomy route.

The native distribution is recorded as Coahuila, Mexico.1 Commercial inventory, nursery origin, price and sales frequency are not measures of wild-population status.
